No Heat Challenge 2nd Month Update

Hey guys! I survived another month without using any heat! Yay!!! I was such a heat junkie I didn't know how I was going to deal with no heat. At the end of last month I went to Target and picked up Biotin so I could try it. I had the choice of 5,000 mcg or 1,000 mcg. I chose the 1,000 because I read reviews on it and a lot of people were saying that the 5,000 made them sick because it was such a high dose. I have now been taking 1 tablet of Biotin 1,000 mcg for an entire month and let me tell you I LOVE IT!!! I feel like it is really doing its job with making my hair and nails grow. I have had no side effects at all with taking 1,000 mcg so for the month of February I'm going to double my intake to 2,000 mcg and see if my results change. I wish I had a regular schedule of washing my hair but with a crazy energetic 15 month old I find it hard to take more then a 5 min shower. So with that said I wash my hair at least twice a week. I deep condition my hair once a week with Aussie Moist 3 Minute Miracle. After I'm done showering I use a leave in dangler or cream. I have been loving Kinky-Curly Knot Today and Curls Curl Creme Brule which you can find both at your local target or Amazon.com. Once I have put my product in I seal my ends in with Olive Oil and then let it air dry. I never thought sealing your ends did anything but I was way wrong! My curls have more life in them and they are super soft and shiny. I did get a texlax on January 4th but with no trim. A texlax is when you allow the relaxer to loosen the curl pattern and make it easily manageable but not necessarily straight. A great website to find out more information about African American or Bi-Racial hair is http://www.hairlista.com/. I have learned so much from them and love the community.

What I did differently this month:
1. I started deep conditioning my hair once a week
2. Only shampoo my hair once every 2 weeks
3. I started co-washing my hair. Co-washing is when you Wash your hair with conditioner instead of shampoo. This helps to put moisture back in the hair without stripping the hair of its natural oils.
4. I started sealing my ends
5. Getting a texlax twice a year
6. Started taking one tablet of Biotin 1,000 mcg a day
7. Stared using Kinky-Curly Knot Today

  2. I would love to try this but my hair is so oily to begin with. It's fine and thin and flat and boring. I can't even keep my hair teased. By the end of the day it starts to unravel.

    1. Have you ever tried using backing soda in your hair when it starts to get oily? I heard that works really well! I think it would take my hair almost a month to get oily because it sucks up anything you put in it! lol
